Sustainability is critical but unless we know how to measure it effectively, it will be very difficult to work out just how trade is adapting to a world where sustainability in every sense of the word must be baked into supply chains. What are the key measurement priorities, how do we trace bad environmental or labour market practice, fraud or non-compliance in supply chains which are, almost by definition, hidden from public scrutiny because they are confidential?
